So, for those of you not too familiar with the goings on on Cobra East, our goalie has been deployed in the middle east for the past, I dunno, billion years.  We lost him towards the end of our season last year and missed him all of the summer season.  Well, as CE suffered through its worst season in, well, forever, we are quite glad to have Jim back on U.S. soil, defending our goal.

Anyway, during his deployment we'd keep in touch with him.  The guys would trade pictures, swap dirty jokes and such, all the while waiting for him to come back so he could carry the team (once again) on his back.

I have to preface this all by saying that everyone, on both Cobra teams, has been a pretty good sport about the whole "Cobra" thing.  I mean, yeah, this was a TV show/comic book/series of toys from my childhood.  I'm sure other dudes my age are familiar with the whole GI JOE thing, but most of them have grown up and moved on.  But no, not me. I think I have a total of 9 or 10 Cobra shirts, two Cobra pens, a Cobra coffee cup, a dozen or so Cobra pucks and a Cobra rubber stamp (for use with Cobra Form 10-42).

Bottom line, other than Eugene (www.yojoe.com), most of the guys on the teams are not too interested in the whole Cobra thing but they accept my fanatacism in good stride.  Thusly, I nearly pissed myself when we got pictures of Jim's newly painted goalie helment.

If anyone is interested or curious, Jim has nothing but praise and accolades for the designer sand painters of his helmet.  As he says (and the pictures indicate), the helmet came out better than he could have possibly imagined.  Oh, and since we're also on a nostalgic kick, Jim also came across the inspiration for the Cobra Commander pose from www.80stees.com.  I'm all over that Decepticon hooded sweatshirt.
