American Wiffleball Federation UnLimited (AWFUL)
Brought to you by the Wiff5k, the official automated umpire of AWFUL
AWFUL is an unproffessional (and no, I don't mean "amateur") Wiffleball
league in San Diego. League members are comprised, surprisingly, of a
bunch of hockey donks. Wiffleball exists only because we are too
un-athletic to play real baseball, which requires running and stuff.
Eff that.
If you are a dork, or are otherwise interested, here are the rules of
AWFUL Wiffleball:
- 2 outs per side; 5 balls, 3 strikes-- Balls thrown through the red hole of the Wiff5K or hit the post are called strikes.
- NO DAMN BASERUNNING!
- The orange cones (which are even with the pitcher) delineate fair and foul balls.
- Caught balls or balls fielded before the cone line are ruled outs. Double plays occur when a ground ball is fielded then thrown through the hole in the Wiff5K.
- Balls hit past the pitcher (in the air or on the ground) are ruled singles. Errors are ruled singles.
- Balls hit into the gap or past the fielder are ruled doubles.
- Balls that hit the wall on the fly are ruled triples.
- Balls that hit over the wall are ruled home runs.
- Because of the short outfield wall and to prevent fielders from standing beyond the wall to catch would-be home runs, players must catch the ball with both feet inside the playing field, a la the NFL.
- With two strikes, if the foul ball makes goes through the whole in the Wiff5k, it is considered strike three.
